VizEdu posted this interesting presentation – definitely worth a look. I don’t think too many physicians, at this point, would be keen on integrating Twitter updates into their daily workflow to the degree imagined here (the bit about updating everyone to their needs/whereabouts on a regular basis is probably a bit much) but the ideas presented are a good start for those looking for ways to put Twitter to use.

Linux Mint Dual Monitors and &Twhirl Twitter Client

I have too many Twitter accounts. There are five that I update on a fairly regular basis and a couple of others that were created for short-term use. Of the five primary accounts one is work related, two support my blogs, and the remaining two are public and private personal accounts. Monitoring that many accounts with the web interface is a bit of pain and TweetDeck doesn’t handle multiple accounts so I often dedicate half of my dual-monitor setup to Twirl. All this is running on a Linux Mint 6 Dell 530 Quad Core box upgraded with a BFG 8800 GTS OC for graphics support. It’s super fast and stable – more so than my 24″ iMac or MacBook Pro. Twhirl provides pretty decent notification options so staying on top of direct messages and replies is pretty painless with this setup and I still have 24″ of workspace and 8 virtual desktops free for real work.
